2023 Success for boys indoor track with stand out athletes

Jason Ortiz

Audubon’s Indoor Track team has had a fantastic season this year with many athletes finding success with both themselves and as a team exceeding expectations and achieving state championships.

Starting with our state champs in the Pole Vault Relay we have Leo Davis and Hayden Wiltsey setting a combined record of 22 feet. Leo Davis won another state championship in the Pole Vault setting a record of 13 feet. He would also later compete at the Meet of Champions. Hayden also ran in distance events and was a part of the 4×400 relay team.

The sprinter standouts are Billy Lindemuth and Amauri Pimentel who were, in Coach Ireland’s words, “Workhorses on the track in sprint events. They serve as inspirations and leaders to a group of young sprinters who have achieved success on their own.” Billy Lindemuth even doubled as a mid-distance runner. He placed 5th in the state for the 400m dash and set a new school record of 51.97 seconds.

Mr. Ireland has seen this year as fun and successful as everyone accomplished something on their own or as a team. For him, this year was very exciting and fun and he enjoyed being a part of the team
