Ashley Flynn: Fall Sport, Athlete Spotlight

Ashley Flynn is a sophomore who came to Audubon High School at the beginning of her freshman year. Since then she has been playing varsity field hockey and basketball. She is the starter center forward for field hockey. This season she had 7 goals and 1 assist. Last year she had 11 goals and 3 assists. She has been playing field hockey since middle school. She says sports are her outlet for dealing with her emotions. She also mentioned the support of her number one fan, her dad, has given her strength and motivation to continue with her journey as an athlete.  

She has always been a 3 season athlete. Last year she did field hockey, basketball, and softball. This year she is planning to do basketball for the winter and track for the spring season. She is excitedly looking forward to the upcoming basketball season to play with the new upcoming players. She already has experience playing with them during the summer league. According to Ashley, the team can become unstoppable this upcoming season. Ashley’s jersey number is 11 just like her role model Kyrie Irving, an NBA player for the Brooklyn Nets. 

She is still in her sophomore year of high school but she has started thinking about her future career. She is thinking of whether to choose basketball or field hockey as a sport in college. She has been interested in Penn State University and Duke University so far.
